Who am I?

My name is MINIGRAN®. At first glance, I look like a simple fertiliser granule, but if you take a closer look at me, you can only conclude that I am a meticulously composed top product ! For I am composed of a wide variety of natural raw materials that are present in adapted proportions attuned to the application.

Because of my mini-size and consistent structure without fractured surfaces, I offer several major advantages compared to conventional pelletized or crumbled fertilisers.

All the granules of a given formula have exactly the same composition.

What am I made of?

I contain more than 15 different raw materials, which have been packed into a small, powerful wonder granule.

Most of these raw materials are derived from residual flows of the food industry and are either of vegetable or animal origin. These are for instance grapestones, cocoa shells, feather meal, wheat etc.
Since all these residual products are used as valuable raw materials in my composition, I perfectly meet the “Cradle to Cradle” principle, which means that in the end I give back to Mother Nature what she has given us.

The choice of the raw materials and the proportions in which they are used, will differ according to the intended application.

Cocoa shells

The processing of cocoa beans into chocolate leaves behind a shell that is rich in organic carbon.

Feather meal

The inedible parts of chickens are transformed into high-quality proteins, which are a source of nitrogen for plants.

Sugar beet

The residual product that remains after the fermentation of sugar beet thick juice into baking yeast is rich in potassium (vinasse).

Tobacco leaves

The finest particles, which are not used in the production of cigars, are a source of organic nitrogen and carbon for fertilisers.

Maize

The gluten obtained from starch extraction is a high-quality protein source that is converted into nitrogen for plants by the soil micro-organisms.

Wheat

The gluten obtained from starch extraction is a high-quality protein source that is converted into nitrogen for plants by the soil micro-organisms.

Grapestones

The pomace remaining after the extraction of oil from grapestones is a source of organic carbon.

Potatoes

The thick juice that remains after the extraction of potato fibres is rich in nitrogen and potassium.

Small, smaller, smallest

As MINIGRAN® granules, not only our composition, but also our shape and size are of great importance to ensure an effective fertilization. It turns out that the smaller and more homogeneous the granules, the greater the benefits.

Because we are produced according to a unique production process called DCM MINIGRAN® Technology, the nutrients that we make available to the plants are presented in the form of ultra-fine granules with a homogeneous composition, offering unequalled advantages.

To give you an idea of how tiny we really are: our dimensions are between 800 and 2500 micron, of which at least 80% between 1000 and 2000 micron.

Because of our small size, it is much easier to spread us more evenly on your lawn and between plants than our conventional equivalents; the pellets and crumbs.

Dust-free...

Thanks to the MINIGRAN® Technology production process, we not only have a homogeneous composition and very small dimensions, but we also are free of fractured surfaces, which is really unique for organic fertilisers. This makes us practically dust-free and we produce no unpleasant odours while being spread.

As MINIGRAN® granules we are very user-friendly. We guarantee a uniform distribution, both by hand and with a fertiliser spreader, this without producing dust and unpleasant smells!

MINIGRAN®, the ‘clean’ granule that works wonders.

Effective and environment-friendly...

Being DCM’s organic MINIGRAN® granules, we leach very little or not at all in comparison with pure chemical fertilisers and slow-release chemical fertilisers. This means that no nutrients go to waste and that we do not pollute the groundwater and surface water by leaching nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

This way, we guarantee a higher efficiency of the applied fertiliser with a maximum respect for the environment.

How do I work?

What happens when I reach the ground and come in contact with moisture? All the raw materials that I contain are decomposed by the beneficial micro-organisms in the soil. During this process of decomposition, several nutrients, such as nitrogen N, phosphorus P and potassium K, are released and made available to the plants.

The phosphorus, a vital nutrient for the rooting, is particularly remarkable. Trials have shown, that by using MINIGRAN® granules, the amount of available phosphorus is doubled in comparison with fertilisers in crumb-form.

N-P-K+Mg?

Each DCM fertiliser is produced according to a specific and well-balanced formula based on the following five main ingredients:

N (nitrogen)

promotes plant growth and leaf development

Mg (magnesium)

is added for a deep green leaf colour

K (potassium)

guarantees strong and compact plants and determines the size of the fruit and the colour of the flowers

P (phosphorus)

is important for good root development and has an influence on the number of flowers

N (nitrogen)

Mg (magnesium)

K (potassium)

bepaalt de grootte van de vruchten en de kleur van de bloemen

P (phosphorus)

What is the effect on the soil and the plants?

The process of decomposition, in the course of which nutrients are released, corresponds to the organic cycle of nature and takes about 100 days or more. This means that the plants are nourished evenly and continuously over a period of more than 3 months, without stress and without excessive or delayed growth.

The valuable remnants remaining after the decomposition of the MINIGRAN® granules form humus. Humus provides a well-aggregated, airy soil structure with a high oxygen content, ensuring excellent nutrient retention. It not only stimulates the soil life, but also has a beneficial effect on the root development of the plants.

Since we, MINIGRAN® granules, contain all the nutrients in the same proportions, each area where a granule falls, receives the same amount of fertiliser, which results in a uniform growth.

Minigran® tailor-made...

Different plants have different needs. For that reason, we, MINIGRAN® granules, are available in various formulas which are tailored to a specific plant or group of plants. So you will not only find us in your lawn, but also in your balcony plants, ornamental garden and fruit and vegetable garden. Moreover we are added to the high-quality DCM Ecoterra® potting soils, so that we can also give a boost to your potted plants.

We work wonders all over your garden!

The results of my wonderworking power will not keep you waiting long, the effects will be absolutely marvellous! A beautiful, deep green and evenly growing lawn surrounded by abundantly flowering plants and shrubs brimming with health. My wholesome effects will also be visible in your fruit and vegetable garden!

We work wonders all over your garden!

Every year, the effectiveness of DCM MINIGRAN® fertilisers is extensively tested in various independent research projects. In addition to these practical tests, DCM also carries out profound research in order to develop new products, applications or services. In this context, DCM is always striving to reconcile eco-friendliness with a maximum effectiveness of its fertilisers.
